Clocking

Clocking is the process of capturing employee time-in and time-out. This can be done with either a physical mechanism (such as a punch card) or digitally (using a computer terminal). 

Clocking does not include rounding or grace; all a clock does is capture the times of the employee’s clock-ins and clock-outs, to the second. Therefore, clocking provides a manager insight into the exact time an employee punched in and out of a shift and whether he consistently follows company policy.
